A Time to Pay It Forward: Two Workshops on April 14

A Time to Pay It Forward!
All Saints-by-the-Sea
Saturday, April 14
12:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Parish Hall
Those of us at All Saints know quite well what it is like for our community to be hit with devastation. As we move forward from the Thomas fires, debris flows, and evacuations, we would like to send messages of hope to others who are in crisis because we know what it feels like to be remembered and encouraged. On April 14 we will be sponsoring two opportunities to “pay it forward.”
Please join us for an afternoon Open House where you and your families will have creative opportunities that will benefit children and other communities. We will have two workshops for you to participate in:
Cuddle Up Tea – A Project Sweet Dreams led by Irene Kilstrom from Pismo Beach. We ask each participant to bring a new stuffed animal with tags still attached. Children’s colorful blankets, pillowcases, and ribbon will be provided for the participants to create a bundle with their stuffed animal of choice as a gift for a child in crisis. We will provide the possibility of making 75 bundles. Families from All Saints who stayed in Pismo Beach after the January 9 debris flow benefited from receiving such bundles. The children loved their bundles! Please help us make more for children in other communities who will be in crisis i the future. We will be serving tea, coffee, juice, sweets, and other refreshments during our time together. Please click here to see more of the wonderful work achieved at other Cuddle Up Teas.

Stars of HOPE is a unique disaster relief and therapeutic arts program started by the New York Says Thank You Foundation in 2007. It empowers people of all ages to transform communities impacted by natural and human caused disasters by creating colorful art with messages of hope and healing on one-foot wooden stars. These stars are then displayed in public spaces for months and even years after a tragedy. They serve as beacons of compassion for all to see and have made a direct impact on the long-term mental health and resiliency of individuals and entire communities recovering from disasters. All Saints was a recipient of Stars of Hope and our stars can be seen on one of our trees outside the church. These beacons of hope were delivered and hung by anonymous residents in our county. We will have 90 stars available to be painted and adorned with messages for others to receive. Please click here to see more about this project.
We welcome you, friends, and families at “A Time to Pay it Forward!” Please contact Rev. Vicki at the church with questions.
