Invitation to St. Francis Day Virtual Choir

Invitation to St. Francis Day Virtual Choir

I am delighted to invite you to participate in an inaugural (and somewhat experimental) virtual choir project for the virtual service video for St. Francis Day, which is the Sunday that under regular circumstances we would do the blessing of the animals. Because the pet blessing is not an option this year, I thought some special music might be a welcome substitute!

For this video, everyone is invited to sing “All things bright and beautiful,” a perennial favorite from our hymnal, and a tune that may be familiar to you already. No musical experience or singing skills are necessary to participate. While you make your video you will be listening to an accompaniment track that will play the tune in your ear, along with a metronome to help you stay on tempo. All you need to do is sing along!

Below is everything you will need, including a score, some recording guidelines, and the audio track you’ll listen to while you record. Please send me your recordings no later than Friday, September 4th to be sure you are included. Please submit your videos to benjamin@asbts.org. Your video file may be too large to send over email, but services like Dropbox, YouTube, or Google Drive provide ways to share large files.

If you have any questions or need technical assistance, please contact me! I am always happy to help. Thank you for lending your time and voice to this project––I think many people will be uplifted by hearing the voices of the parish joined in song once again.

Happy singing,
-Benjamin
