Twelve All Saints parishioners volunteered to complete training and staff positions in two precincts at the chapel of St. Michael’s University Church and Campus Ministry at UCSB for the November 4, 2014, general election. The remaining eight positions were staffed by parishioners from Trinity and St. Mike’s. All volunteers donated their stipends totaling approximately $1,700.00 to benefit St. Mike’s. It was a long but exhilarating day starting at 6:30 am to prepare for opening the polls at 7:00 am and ending at around 8:30 pm after the polls closed at 8:00 pm.  Thank you to all who donated their time, efforts and stipends to make it a successful day! Numerous compliments were received during the day about the friendly demeanor, outgoing personalities, and professional performance of volunteers. A total of about 300 votes were cast in the two precincts by a diverse group including seniors from a nearby retirement community; service workers, staff and faculty from UCSB; and of course many students who arrived on bikes, skateboards and on foot. St. Mike’s prepared and served a light supper for afternoon volunteers that put a final touch on an experience of feeling good while doing good.
