Parishwide Launch of Sanctuary Capital Campaign Huge Success; $7.7 Million Already Committed

Campaign website card graphicThe “How Firm Our Foundation” capital campaign launched Saturday with great fanfare, joy and love for our beautiful but aging Sanctuary. The home of Peggy and George Ittner was the perfect – and beautiful – setting for roughly 150 members of the parish who gathered for fellowship and to learn about what’s been accomplished thus far and what is in store for all of us in the coming months.

2016-01-23 15.57.00Rev. Aimée noted in her comments that, “I am confident that you have heard of the dire conditions of our Sanctuary. She is crying out for our care and it’s time for us to heed her cry.” You can read her remarks at this link. She was flanked by campaign co-chairs Ed Birch and Sheri Benninghoven, Special Gifts Committee Raye Haskell Melville, Facilities Committee Chair Chip Nichols and Senior Warden Tom Mack.

The highlight of the afternoon was the announcement that during the initial organizing period $7.7 million in commitments, or 67% of the $11.6 million campaign goal, has been received from the Vestry, clergy, staff and initial campaign leaders. “This is a huge accomplishment and yet there is much work to be done to achieve our goal,” Aimée noted.

From late February through May, members of the parish will be invited to attend small in-home receptions at which we will discuss the details of the project, ask questions and learn ways to support the effort. This June campaign leaders hope to be very near to the fundraising goal so the Vestry can authorize the next steps in the planning and construction process. Gift commitments to the project may be paid over 1 to 5 years.
As Aimée concluded, “Today, I invite you all to join me and the project leadership in this necessary work to which we are all called.  It will mean all of us giving as joyfully and generously as we can, just as our forbearers did. And it will mean acting faithfully, so that what may seem impossible to us, God will make possible through us.”

“This project is just the beginning of the faithful ministry we will accomplish together, but it must be done. Now. By us. And, I believe we WILL do it, together.

Today, I invite you all to join me and the project leadership in this necessary work to which we are all called.

It will mean all of us giving as joyfully and generously as we can, just as our forbearers did. And it will mean acting faithfully, so that what may seem impossible to us, God will make possible through us.”
