New Mt. Calvary Retreat: Becoming Beguines – Living Love Mystically and Apostolically

Becoming Beguines: Living Love Mystically and Apostolically
Nov. 20 – Nov. 22, 2015

A Retreat Open to all Women who Love God
Mount Calvary Monastery
Santa Barbara, California

During this retreat we will explore the stories of the Beguines, 13th century women who sought to live the apostolic life, and how they might inspire our lives today. How can their lives and writings promote greater human flourishing in our contemporary time? These women left lives of comfort in order to live love with the suffering of humanity and to live love in mystical union with God. These women were prepared to die if necessary to ‘go and tell’ their stories – let us resurrect their stories, poetry, and theology and in so doing possibly become Beguines.
