Book Club is Back: The Monuments Men

The All Saints Book Club will meet on Monday, July 14, to discuss “The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History” by Robert M. Edsel with Bret Witter. The book explores:

At the same time Adolf Hitler was attempting to take over the western world, his armies were methodically seeking and hoarding the finest art treasures in Europe.  The Fuehrer had begun cataloguing the art he planned to collect as well as the art he would destroy: “degenerate” works he despised.  In a race against time, behind enemy lines, often unarmed, a special force of American and British museum directors, curators, art historians, and others, called the Monuments Men, risked their lives scouring Europe to prevent the destruction of thousands of  years of culture.

Join us for a wonderful evening of fellowship as we delve into this exciting and dynamic book.  We will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish House for potluck and discussion.  Please bring a dish to share and a beverage of choice including wine or soft drinks.  Waters, juice, and decaf coffee will be provided.  All are welcome.  If you have questions, please contact the Rev. Vicki Mouradian at church, 969-4771 or vicki@asbts.org.
