Children, youth, and families
Children and youth are a central part of our worship at All Saints by the Sea.
We want every child to know they are deeply loved by God, belong in our parish community, and have important contributions to make in our shared life of faith.
Our programs support spiritual growth at every developmental stage: nursery care, Godly Play for children 4 through 11 years old, and youth group beginning at 12 years old through high school.
Programs are overseen by the Rev. Christina Miller, Associate Rector of Children, Youth, and Families, and made possible by our amazing volunteers.

Nursery Care
Sundays 9:45am-11:30am
We have a dedicated team of caregivers who serve our infants through three-year-olds—the head of our team has been here for 30 years! They are available every Sunday during the 10am service in the Parish House, just adjacent to our church building. You will find a nurturing environment filled with light and fun books and toys.

Godly Play
Sundays 9:45am-Eucharist
We are proud to offer Godly Play, a Montessori based curriculum created by the Rev. Jerome Berryman and part of a foundation that provides religious education to children and adults globally. Each story uses simple materials (like wood, felt, and string) to teach about the Bible and liturgical church. The stories invite children into wonder and play, based on the philosophy that children already have a deep understanding of God, they just need the language and tools to articulate it. All our teachers have been certified in Godly Play and delight in learning from the children, seeing familiar stories anew through their eyes. Every week the children also learn about the liturgical calendar, reflect on the light of God that is always with us, practice the Lord’s prayer, and end with arts and crafts. Children are then led back into the sanctuary to join their church family for the Eucharist.

Youth Group
Sundays 5-7pm & Event Based
Our youth group is a safe space for youth, 12 years old through high school, to grow spiritually through faith formation, friendship, and fun! We get together regularly for service projects, sharing meals, playing games, and going on adventures. Youth have the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with their peers, our amazing college student youth mentors, and members of our church. During these formational years, youth get to learn more about themselves and what it means to live a life of faith.

Serving on Sunday Mornings
Sundays 8am and 10am
Children and youth are welcome and encouraged to serve on Sunday mornings as an Usher, Acolyte, Lector, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Junior Altar Guild, or Junior Chorister. This is an opportunity to grow in leadership and to be hands on with our sacred rituals and traditions. The whole congregation is blessed by receiving the contributions of the younger members of our parish.

Intergenerational Events for our Church Family
throughout the year
We believe children, youth and adults are deeply formed in their lives of faith through relationships of all ages. This is why we host events for the whole church family to interact with one another around meaningful and fun activities. Come join us for events like making Advent wreaths, the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival, celebrating Christ’s birth at the Epiphany pageant, spending the day at Lake Casitas, serving alongside one another for causes we believe in, or enjoying a movie or game night. We love to find ways to come together.
