Joint All Saints/Trinity Services on Dec. 17 Cancelled

Dear People of All Saints:

After considering all the new mandatory evacuation orders and warnings, Bishop John Taylor, the Rev. Gary Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church and I have decided the Sunday church services at Trinity scheduled for tomorrow (Dec. 17, 2017) are CANCELLED due to the Thomas Fire. An evacuation warning has been issued encompassing much of downtown Santa Barbara, including Trinity Episcopal Church; All Saints continues to be included in the evacuation warning area, as well. Much of our community is under mandatory evacuation order. (Here is a link to the latest evacuation map: http://bit.ly/2CpneHz).

Our first priority is to ensure your safety. Please cooperate with the directives of our local authorities. Your community of faith is praying for you and all of those affected by this fire.

If you are in Santa Barbara, I encourage you to attend church at St. Michael’s University Church or Christ the King Episcopal Church:

  • St. Michael’s (6586 Picasso Rd, Isla Vista) holds a service of Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. For more information visit https://www.saintmikesucsb.org.
  • Christ the King Episcopal Church (5073 Hollister Avenue, between Peterson and Turnpike) holds Eucharist services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. with education for all ages at 9:15 a.m. For more information, visit http://www.ctksb.org.

If you are not in the Santa Barbara area, please attend the Episcopal or Lutheran church nearest you. It is important that we not neglect our spiritual health in the midst of crisis, but that we direct our fervent prayers to God and receive care from our brothers and sisters in Christ. Please let the church you attend know that you have evacuated. My family and I will be worshipping at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lompoc.

If you need assistance or a location to which to evacuate, please call the church and leave a message on extension 100 (805-969-4771 ext. 100). We are checking the main mailbox hourly.

If you are in the voluntary evacuation warning area, you need to be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. Now is the time to gather your family members, pets, irreplaceable items and documents. Please gather any necessary items, including prescriptions, in case you are ordered to evacuate. If you are ordered to evacuate, evacuate immediately. If you at any point feel threatened, leave immediately.

May the peace of God rule in your hearts,

Aimée
