Sanctuary Project Town Hall Covered Lots of Ground, including Columbarium and Where We Could Worship During Closure

The June 11 Town Hall was a well-attended and highly informative gathering. Updates were provided about the topics listed below. Please click on any image or link to see the extensive content delivered on each topic.

Sunday Worship Location During Construction Closure

Extensive information was shared noting the advantages/disadvantages of the three remaining options for where we will worship during the roughly 20 or so months that the Sanctuary will be closed for reconstruction. The three options include: the Parish Hall, a pre-fabricated building on the church parking lot (known as a “Burke” building in reference to the manufacturer), or at Cleveland Elementary School. Updated Renderings of Chancel, Organ Views

There was considerable reaction and feedback regarding the renderings shown at the last Town Hall in October 2016 of what we would see looking at the altar area once the work is complete.  Much of the feedback had to do with three things: the metal cross now on the high altar (where is it?), the candelabras (where are they?), and the organist’s head (can we get rid of it?).

These two renderings respond to those concerns – click either image to enlarge:

The first one shows what you will see when the altar party is in its place. We superimposed the altar party on the latest design. You can see that when the altar party is present the main thing you see is the altar party.
This view simulates what you would see in the quiet time before the service starts, for example. CB Fisk, our organ builder, will integrate our existing cross into the reredos, which in turn is a major element in the organ case. The current plan is to have them on stanchions so that they can be there or not depending on the occasion. As to the organist’s head, Fisk will help us devise an attractive wooden screen that can block the organist from view without obscuring his or her view of choir members and vice versa.

Columbarium, Memorial Plaques

Final plans for the construction of a Memorial Chapel with columbarium and memorial plaques were shared. Check out the images below or head to a very complete separate webpage that provides all the information you will need to decide if you would like to sign up to purchase a niche or memorial plaque. Click this link to visit the Columbarium webpage.

Parish School/Church Relationship

An update was provided about the status of the work between the Church and the Parish School to address concerns regarding the impact of Sanctuary construction on Parish School children.

This grassy area to the south of the Parish House, just off the patio, will be converted to Parish School playground area. The swing set will move to this area so that the Sanctuary addition can be constructed where the swing set now sits.

Status of Permits, Schedule, Budget

An update was provided regarding the status of obtaining all permits; our project schedule; and the impact on the project budget due to the delayed construction schedule.
