Parish School-Church Working Group Formed

Sanctuary Preservation and Readiness Project Start Date Delayed

As the summer months have approached and the Sanctuary construction date neared, project leaders recently recommended to the Vestry, and it approved, a delay in the start of construction until after the 2017-2018 Parish School year.

There are two main reasons for the new schedule: the first is that we are still working to determine where we will worship while the Sanctuary is closed for the approximately 18-20 months of construction. More information about these options will be discussed at the June 11 Town Hall following a combined 9 a.m. worship service. Two viable options have emerged and more time is needed to determine which would best suit our needs plus coordinate all the details: offsite at Cleveland Elementary School or a temporary building on the parking lot to the south of the Church Office.

The second reason for the delay is the impact of the construction on the day-to-day operations of the Parish School and our children/parents. As details emerged about the impact of the construction fence, heavy equipment noise, dust, etc., project leaders and School parents expressed numerous concerns. A working group of school representatives and project leaders is now forming and will work on addressing a variety of issues. (The Parish School is an important 50 year-old ministry of All Saints which annually forms the hearts, minds and spirits of some 100 children ages 2 through 5.)

So we have a moment to catch our breath, celebrate reaching our initial $10.1 million capital campaign goal, and begin the steps of entering into phase two of the project. Please keep an eye out for additional information in our regular newsletters and be sure to attend the June 11 Town Hall.
