Memorial Chapel with Columbarium

Col quote

The Book of Common Prayer speaks to the central role of our Church in our spiritual journey. Here we are baptized, we proclaim our faith at confirmation, we are married, we give thanks for the birth or adoption of our children and the other blessings in our lives. We gather in mystical communion for worship, formation, and the fellowship of our faith community, and we commend to the Lord the souls of our loved ones. The Memorial Chapel allows us and our family members to be interred here and to memorialize family members who are interred elsewhere.

The All Saints Memorial Chapel provides the opportunity to rest in peace within the sacred walls of the church Sanctuary, a tangible reminder of what is already spiritually true — that we gather each week in communion with the faithful who have gone before us.

The Memorial Chapel, which opened in July of 2021, includes a columbarium with niches for the interment of cremated remains and memorial plaques for the remembrance of loved ones.

Location

The Memorial Chapel is located inside the Sanctuary. The Chapel is a serene and light filled space, with a bay window looking out to the mountains (which mirrors the Baptistery at
the Sanctuary’s main entrance).

Description

The niches are recessed in banks in the north and east walls; future banks can be installed
in the south wall. Each niche is 8 inches by 8 inches and 15 inches deep, with capacity for up
to two urns. The opening is covered by Italian marble on which the name or names and dates
of birth and death of those interred will be inscribed. The Memorial Chapel has space for
419 niches. The purchase of a niche includes up to two urns, inscribing of the marble cover, the committal service and perpetual care.

The memorial plaques measure 4 inches by 6 inches and are located on the inside west
wall to either side of the entrance door. Each memorial wall will consist of 48 rectangles of
Italian marble on which the name and dates of birth and death of a Church member or family member are inscribed. Each memorial plaque purchase includes the cost of inscribing the plaque and perpetual care.

Members of All Saints-by-the-Sea may purchase niches or memorial plaques, which may be
used for members or their families. Niches and plaques may be reserved singly or in groups by advance purchase.

Cost / How to Reserve Your Niche or Plaque

The cost to purchase one niche that will hold two urns is $6,000 and includes inscribing of
the marble stone and perpetual care. Each memorial plaque that can
be inscribed with one name is $1,000, which includes inscribing of the plaque and
perpetual care.
