An Invitation to Holy Week and Easter

Holy week bannerHoly Week begins on April 9 with Palm Sunday. All are invited, even encouraged, to celebrate and participate in Holy Week at All Saints.

Palm Sunday – April 9 We will begin our worship at 8:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary and at 10:00 a.m. on the lawn in front of the Church Office (across the street from the church).

Maundy Thursday – April 13, 5:30 p.m. Supper and 6:30 p.m. Service Gather in beloved community to break bread and share Christ’s servant ministry. Here we gather, as Jesus did with his disciples on the night of the last supper, to carry ou the commandment Jesus gave his disciples then: “love one another as I have loved you.” We do this by washing one another’s feet as servants to one another and by sharing a simple meal of bread and wine as friends.

An all night vigil will commence immediately following the Maundy Thursday service. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend an hour with Jesus! Sign up today for your hour of choice at the Information Table on the patio after church!

Good Friday – April 14, Noon & 6:30 p.m. Service On Good Friday we commemorate and participate in Christ’s suffering and death because we believe they have a purpose: the salvation of the world. We believe that Christ’s death has conquered death, in all forms, once and for all: that is why we call the Friday on which he died “good”. When we have found ourselves on one of life’s many crosses, Christ, who suffers with us, has sustained us. We meet Christ on the cross, and we know there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God.

The Great Vigil of Easter – Saturday April 15, 7:30 p.m. This ancient service is the most important of the year. The service begins with the kindling of a new fire – the light of Christ breaking into the darkness of our world. And then we hear the story, our story, of salvation. We gather on the patio around the fire as we share our ancestral stories of how God has worked for our salvation since the beginning of time, and how we still participate in God’s ongoing story of salvation. We will baptize new Christians and commit ourselves anew to be people of Christ’s resurrection. We will celebrate that resurrection in the first Eucharist of Easter. Dress warmly, and don’t miss this principle liturgy of the year gathered around the simplicity of a campfire.

Easter Day – Sunday, April 16 We will gather for a chorale Eucharist at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Children Welcome! We have adjusted the times of the services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday to make them more accessible to families with children.
